Mission Statement

The Mackinaw United Methodist Kids Club is a mission project of the Mackinaw United Methodist Church. The club was established in the year 2000 to provide after school child care for the benefit of children, parents, and the community. We now provide both before and after school care in a Christian environment for school age children, Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our hours are from 6:30 am to 8:00 am in the morning and from school dismissal to 6:00 pm on days when school is in session. The Kids Club is licensed through the Department of Children and Family Services and the Tazewell County Health Department.

We believe that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually to the fullest potential. We are called to ministry, caring for children, showing concern for families and providing support and nurturing for families in our congregation and surrounding community. This program is one way for our church to live out the message of God's love, expressed through Jesus Christ.

At MUMC Kids Club, our ultimate goal is to provide a secure after school program that services the children, their parents, and the community in which they live. We strive to teach and reinforce values that honor God. Our program is intended to provide each child with an understanding of the Christian faith. It is also our goal to provide new experiences, the opportunity to develop self-confidence and to experience the joy of learning. We will encourage and assist all children to complete homework and provide for participation in a variety of structured activities. Much of our curriculum and activities are designed to provide opportunity for learning and practicing Christian values.

Fees

Our fees are based on a daily rate, but weekly payments are made on a regular schedule as the school year progresses.  Kids Club fees correspond with the number of days in each school week.  We do not charge for days when school is not in session. 

Full Time Fees:

Mornings	$4 per day  (or $20 per week)
Afternoons	$9 per day  (or $45 per week)
Sibling fees   (discount applied to after school sessions, full time) only
Mornings	$4 per day
Afternoons	$7 per day

 

Part Time Fees:  (Minimum 3 days of attendance per week)

Mornings	$4 per day  (or $12 per week)
Afternoons	$11 per day  (or $33 per week)

Kids Club requests monetary donations be made on an as-needed basis for lunch expenses or special activities.

Hours of Operation

Mornings:	6:30am - 8:00am
Afternoons:	3:00pm - 6:00pm

Kids Club is in session on school days when children are present.  We follow the school calendar of the Deer Creek-Mackinaw School District.  We do not have Kids Club on scheduled school holidays or cancellation days due to weather or other circumstances. 

Kids Club is open on early dismissal SIP days.  We serve lunch on these days and usually include some special activity for the longer afternoon session. 

 

 

Registration

A $10 non-refundable registration fee is required annually for each child enrolled in the Club, with a $20 limit per family.  The registration is required at initial enrollment confirmation.  You may contact the Director of Kids Club, Jodi Trombini, at (309) 359-KIDS (5437) to receive more information about Kids Club or to enroll your child.   Kids Club fills up quickly each year, so don't delay!

More about the program

We have a beautiful outside play area.  It is fenced and provides both grassy and blacktop surfaces for kids to run and play.  There is also a lovely gazebo and flower garden area that Kids Club cares for.

Inside, we occupy a large, cheery room with plenty of space for everyone!  There are many games and activities for the kids.  We also allow for homework time.  The kids have ample table space to complete their assignments from school. 

We serve a tasty and nutritious snack every day after school.  The morning kids enjoy a light breakfast before starting their day at school.  On scheduled SIP early dismissal school days, we serve a healthy, kid-friendly lunch. 

Kids Club is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services and by the Tazewell County Health Department.  Our program has been awarded the Food Excellence Award from the Tazewell County Health Department and ranks in the top percentile of those who prepare and serve food for others in Tazewell County. 

The Director of Kids Club, Jodi Trombini, is a certified teacher and food service manager.
